First of all, Craigslist is awesome. Ask for an A Capella group that can sing Europe’s “The Final Countdown” and 10 minutes later you have 3 responses.

We always blast “The Final Countdown” when we launch new projects. Today, we celebrated the launch of Matt Blumberg’s (CEO of Return Path) Only Once blog today with a special rendition by Wonder Voice, a local A Capella group.

Slice of Lime hosted their 10th Boulder Creative Commons last night with the theme “Time-Lapse.” The video above is the group creating our own time-lapse project during the meet up, starting with a blank chalkboard in the Slice of Lime offices.

Eric Baer spoke about his work on BoulderFlatironCam.com and Bruce Wyman (seen below) presented how the Denver Art Museum utilized time-lapse to capture the artists that participated in the current Embrace! exhibit.

Slice of Lime went out to the Westminster Brunswick Zone to lay to “roll” as they say in the biz. Heat-lamped nachos, frozen pizza, and beer were enjoyed by all.

Slice of Lime hosted the 3rd annual TechStars Shuffleboard Smackdown last week. The TechStars teams paired up to compete in this highly rigorous sporting event. We’re pretty sure that we’re the only ones that have used Boulder’s shuffleboard courts in about 30 years.

Thanks to all the TechStars for coming out. Your skills were impressive (including devouring 7 large pizza pies in under 5 minutes).

Two scooters were introduced to the Slice of Lime offices a couple of weeks ago and things have not been quite the same since. Keep your eyes out for Slice of Lime employees scooting around Boulder on beer runs and beware when you enter our office for drive-by scootings. Everyone at Slice of Lime helped put this video together, which incorporates the first ever documented “scoot cam” in action. To get in the Thanksgiving spirit, our Project Manager, Lindsay, organized a “Bake Something!” party. Everyone came to work with a homemade baked good, including two takes on scrumptious apple pie. We turned on some “Thanksgiving music” (not a large selection) and enjoyed a bunch of carbs at the end of the work day.

Tuesday night the Slice of Lime office was abuzz with a healthy crowd of interactive pros, newbies, start-ups and students. Thank you all for making it over- we loved catching up on fresh applications and opportunities, as well as demo’ing some of our latest launches. November’s Creative Commons event boasted some of the best conversations we’ve heard yet, and it never ceases to amaze us how much local talent this community holds.

This week, we had the opportunity to attend the Adobe MAX Conference in San Francisco. We got to check out the city and to “level up” our skills around the various Adobe products that we use every day at Slice of Lime.

The major take away for me was represented in the Adobe Keynote on Monday. They are thinking of the world in 3 overlapping areas:

1. Cloud Computing
2. Social Communication
3. Device Independence

With this focus, the conference definitely zeroed in on their Rich Internet Application (RIAs) tools, specifically Flash, Flex, and AIR. Slice of Lime has been doing a steadily increasing amount of Flash and Flex work and our purpose for being at the conference was to extend this knowledge even further.

Adobe also offered some new tools, like Flash Catalyst, which offers a “rapid-prototype” approach to to building web applications and allows for a more cohesive workflow between designers and developers. Again, this seems very much aligned with were Slice of Lime is seeing the industry growing – iterative and highly collaborative development.

Lastly, it was great to hear about advances in Flash search engine optimization and the details on how this is accomplished. Finally, dynamic websites in Flash can start to break away from search engine optimization issues.

All in all, the conference was extremely educational and had a great atmosphere of collaboration. There was much less focus on walking “the floor” and much more focus on learning new things and getting inspired for future project work.
